Community Garden Opening Ceremony And Resource Fair
May 3 • 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Join us at the Steele Heights Community League at the opening of our NEW community garden. This free, family-friendly event is a chance to celebrate spring, contribute to setting up the garden, and access community resources related to climate and gardening.
The garden portion of our event will take place outdoors at the garden and will include a mini work-bee to finish up preparing the garden for the growing season. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or just curious, you are invited to help prepare the beds. There's a role for all ages and skill levels as we get the soil ready for planting.
Inside the hall we will be hosting a resource fair featuring local organizations working on climate change, sustainability, food security, and community building. It is a great opportunity to learn about what is happening in your neighbourhood and how you can get involved. Be sure to stop by our seed swap table, where you can bring any extra seeds or seedlings you have to trade with fellow gardeners.
For our younger community members, there will be fun, hands-on kids’ activities related to gardening, including the chance for them to plant their very own seedling to take home.
Open to everyone within the Steele Heights community or beyond, we invite you to come on out, learn something new, and help us kick off a great season at the garden. We can’t wait to see you there!

SHCL AGM

Did you know our AGM is open to everyone? Whether you’ve lived on this area for decades or just moved in last month, you are a vital part of what makes our community special. Members and non members alike are invited to join us for our Annual General Meeting coming up in May.
Your voice matters, and we want your input to help decide what is next for our neighborhood. You will have the chance to hear what we have been up to over the past year. We will be presenting a recap of the past year, celebrating our successes, learning from our challenges, and sharing more about what the league has been working on.
While the AGM is open to all community members, please note that only registered members in good standing are eligible to vote on specific motions or for the new board. However, we welcome everyone to listen, ask questions, and participate in the conversation.
Children are welcome to attend and there will be a space provided for them to play while our meeting takes place.
