Steele Heights Tigers
Named in honour of Annie. A York Secord, the history of our neighbourhood is rooted in Edmonton's pioneer heritage. York was a dedicated educator who came to Alberta in 1889, married Richard Secord, a prominent fur trader and merchant, and remained an influential figure in the community until her passing in 1950.
Our neighbourhood began to take shape during the development boom of the 1960s and 1970s, and it holds a distinct place in the city's architectural history as the site of Edmonton's first condominium complex. Today, as the Steele Heights Community League, we proudly serve this historic neighbourhood, maintaining community connections through landmarks like York Park and continuing the spirit of community established by the pioneers who came before us.
