Free sand at Steele Heights Community League ...

“Recent freeze-thaw weather and freezing rain over the past two days have resulted in hazardous conditions on Edmonton’s walkways and sidewalks. These treacherous conditions are a safety concern for everyone – particularly for those with limited mobility, waste collectors and other service providers. The City of Edmonton is reminding property owners to keep sidewalks, walkways and waste collection areas free of ice and snow. To help keep your sidewalks safe, the City provides free sand at roadway maintenance yards and many community leagues. To find a sandbox near you and learn more about the program, visit edmonton.ca/communitysandboxes

SHCL - Public Service Announcement
With the current temperature and rain in the forecast, conditions are favorable for icy roads and sidewalks. Drive with caution, and be sure that your sidewalks are cleared and sanded.

Free sand is provided during winter weather to use on your icy sidewalks and walkways. Remember to bring your own container when you visit your local community sandbox or Roadway Maintenance Yard.

Although every attempt is made to keep sand boxes filled, crews fill them as time permits. Activities such as plowing, blading and sanding roads take priority over additional courtesy services like filling sandboxes.

Steele Heights' sand box is available near the entrance of the parking lot of the hall. (North side, green box.)

Further information about the sand boxes and sidewalk regulations can be found at: www.edmonton.ca/transportation/on_your_streets/public-sand.aspx

-Stay Safe.
